My name is Rochelle (she/her) and I look forward to working with you. I believe in therapy for its capacity to shine a light on who you really want to be, both intuitively and intentionally. In my previous career as an educator, I wanted to spend more time with students on their social and emotional wellness. To me that was the highest priority.
I am a person-centered therapist, who aligns with the following modalities: cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). Narrative therapy holds a place in my heart, maybe due to my Newfoundland roots. I also believe in the importance of a trauma-informed approach with therapy.
I enjoy working with individuals as they come to discover (or rediscover) their identity. I have worked with clients in their 20s, who are starting out in a life of their own and coming to discover what they want and need from their life. I have worked with clients in their 40s and 50s who are reacquainting themselves with who they want to be, after the dust has settled in their career and family lives. And I enjoy working with clients in their 70s+ as they reflect on their life and think about what their future holds.
I have worked alongside individuals with Indigenous ancestry. I appreciate the dimensions of Indigenous worldviews and look forward to working with Indigenous clients. I am also an LGBTQ2Spirit ally who is always working to be better.
I am a married mother of two, with an elder cat and a dog. I enjoy baking, reading, music, movies, travel, and spending time outdoors. I find nature quite restorative. I believe in community, inclusion, and compassion for all beings.
I look forward to meeting you!
